Carrie Fisher who played Princess Leia

Don’t mess with my People ❤️ how Women support other Women by Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher was known for playing Princess Leia.

But people who knew her personally often remembered something else:

She was fiercely loyal.

In 2017, after Fisher’s death, writer and producer Heather Ross shared a story about her famous friend that sounded almost too outrageous to be true.

Ross said that in 2000, an Oscar-winning Hollywood producer had invited her to meet about a potential film project.

According to Ross, the meeting quickly turned into something much more disturbing. She alleged that the producer pulled his car over, forced himself on her, and then told her she’d never make a movie in Hollywood before ordering her out of the car.

Ross eventually told Fisher what had happened.

And Carrie Fisher apparently decided that talking wasn’t enough.

A few weeks later, Ross said Fisher contacted her and told her she’d seen the producer at Sony Studios.

So Fisher went to his office.

Carrying a Tiffany & Co. box wrapped with a white bow.

Inside was a cow’s tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli.

And according to Ross, Fisher included a note warning that if he ever touched her friend — or another woman — again, the next delivery would be something belonging to him in a much smaller box.

Fisher allegedly delivered the box herself.

And, according to Ross, stayed to watch him open it.

It’s the kind of story that sounds like something written for a dark Hollywood comedy.

Except Ross said it really happened.

And there’s an important distinction here: the identity of the producer was never publicly established in the reporting, and the allegations came from Ross’s account. The producer was not named in the original reports.

But regardless of the sensational detail, what Ross remembered most wasn’t the cow tongue.

It was Fisher’s reaction to hearing that her friend had been hurt.

“She stood up for people,” Ross said.

That’s perhaps the most lasting part of this strange little piece of Carrie Fisher’s legacy.

She wasn’t there when it happened.

She couldn’t undo what had happened to her friend.

But when Ross told her, Fisher apparently refused to treat it like something that should simply be forgotten.

She stood beside her.

She believed her.

And she made sure the person accused of hurting her understood that someone was watching.

Carrie Fisher spent her life making people laugh, challenging Hollywood, writing honestly about her struggles and playing one of the most recognizable characters in movie history.

But sometimes the stories that reveal who someone really was aren’t the ones from the movie screen.

They’re the stories about how they treated their friends when nobody was watching.

And Carrie Fisher apparently had a very memorable way of saying:

“Don’t mess with my people.” ❤️
