Thereâs a France inside me that Iâve never really left
Not the one drawn on maps or defined by politics,
but the one found in long, wandering conversations in cafés,
where thoughts collide and laughter fills the air
Itâs the France of heritage and storytelling,
where elders share what theyâve learned,
passing on their wisdom like a sacred flame.
Itâs the France of painters and dreamers,
of those who knew how to capture the light,
and of the forests around Paris, whispering poetry through the leaves
Itâs the France of bakeries where the scent of bread fills the morning,
and of independent cinemas,
where silence often says more than dialogue ever could
I left the country, yes,
but I never left its soul.
It lives in my language, in my gestures,
in the way I see and feel the world.
And sometimes, a song, a scent, an image
rekindles that invisible thread connecting me to it â to this part of myself.
The France I carry needs no flag.
Itâs made of glances, of conversations, of heartbeats shared in passing.
It travels with me, quietly and faithfully,
in every smile, in every word I teach,
in every glimpse of beauty I choose to share

Yes I am very well – enjoying my last sunny days in Albania while working hard on developing my French teaching business – will head back to Wales & England on Thursday where I will pet sit for almost 3 months! Will definitely come back to Tenby for day trips when Iâll be in Carmarthen đ letâs keep finding little joys in the right places! Cheers, Emi
