What Dog Poops teach you about your Pet’s Health

The quality of the poop = the quality of the food

A healthy dog poop is quite small, dark colored and solid

The runnier your dog’s poops are, the lighter the color, and the bigger it is, the more it teaches you that the food you give to him fills him up, goes through his system but doesn’t feed him healthily.

RESPECT THE 60% GOLDEN RULE

The easiest way to check on your pet food is to make sure that at least 60% of what they eat is fish or meat = pure proteins.

If a dog was alone in nature, in need to survive, he would never eat cereals and today, the pet food industry fills the pet food up with cereals and sugar, which gives the pets highs and lows in sugar which is unhealthy and not what he needs at all.

Back in France, at the vet, the assistant told me: “all those kibbles, even the ones we have here, are like giving Mac Donalds to your pet, everyday“. Boom. I was so surprised.

I asked my vet friend and he confirmed.

He said to me that the smaller the poops are, the more it means that your pet’s body has kept the food you gave him, which means it was good for him. The bigger the poops are, the more it means the body didn’t keep much of it and that it is exhausting his digestive system instead of nurturing him.

I’m worried too many pets owners still do not realize how much the pet food industry is not their friend, neither their pet’s. This industry is the least regulated in terms of laws and protection.

They are allowed to write Turkey or Chicken on a tin or a pack of food as long as there is a ridiculous % of it. So you feel like you’re buying a tin of chicken for your pet, but what you’re actually getting is SUGAR, CEREALS, ANIMAL FLOUR which are all poisonous for a pet.

I wish I had known this earlier. The food you give to them, which is cheap, exhausts their digestive system and organs and it literally sets them up for an early death.

When the pet food industry didn’t exist, our grandparents used to feed the pets with fresh food from the butcher and the leftovers from the family and the average age for a pet was often around 16, 18, even 20 years old and we are now far from this.

THEY NEED FRESH FOOD

On top of quality dry or wet pet food, they also need fresh food. They need red meat, they need fresh fish. Just like us, they cannot eat from a tin or a plastic bags all the time. It is toxic.

Would you eat what you give to them?
You should always be able to answer YES to this question.

Positive Social Impact

There are small companies now that create little sachets of fresh food for pets that you can order, and it is not that expensive. There are also farmers who make healthy pet food from leftovers which can be quite cheap and very plain. Just try to ask farmers around you.

  • And let me tell you something about the cost:

All the extra money you will spend on feeding your pet better, you will not spend it at the vet. In the UK, I’ve had to take pets to the vet several times and I was pretty horrified by the costs for quick 10 minutes visits with no results. In one time at the vet, you have spent that extra money on food you will spend in 6 months so it’s all worth it.

There is no feeding a pet for cheap without destroying its health.

Watch his ears: One sign that shows that the pet reacts to the cereals and sugar he absorbs is often that he scratches himself a lot and he has “ears infection”. Those are a sign of allergy. It show that the digestive system is inflamed.

But the Vet didn’t say!

Do you know what a lobby is?

Vets work with the unhealthy pet food industry and get big money from them. Period.

So listen to those who love animals and have nothing to gain from telling you the truth.

Go for the 60% Rule + Fresh Food

Buying pet food that respects the 60% rule and adding some type of fresh food that goes well for your pet’s breed is a good direction. And then you can always keep some kibbles you already have, that are not so good, for when you temporarily run out of better food, exactly like how we use a fast food ourselves when we’re traveling or in exceptional situations.

Also know that the taste of food is very important for dogs. They love food very much. It’s a big part of their happiness. A dog really needs fresh tasty food to be happy. Just like us! See how much time we spend on making and going for good food, it’s the same for them! They need those yummy meals every now and then to feel fulfilled and loved.

I really think I will end up opening a restaurant for dogs ๐Ÿ™‚ they deserve it so much!!
