🌿 Pembrey Coast Park & Beach
A nature lover’s paradise with golden sands, scenic walking trails, and even a toboggan run—perfect for a fun-filled day by the sea. If you fancy the perfect mix of huge beaches and a beautiful natural park, with grass, trees, spaces to play and run, possibilities to drive around the place as well (you don’t need to walk it all) you’re in the right place!
💦 Ffynone Waterfalls
Hidden deep in the woods, this magical cascade feels like a secret retreat, ideal for a peaceful escape into nature. Ffynone Waterfalls are reputed to be the site of the gateway to Annwn; the Welsh mythological Otherworld or spirit realm. The legend says that this is the place where Arawn, then ruler of Annwn, and Pwyll, Prince of Dyfed, traded places for a year and a day.
The Keepers in Brechfa Forest

This car park is an excellent starting point for both walking and cycling enthusiasts.
From here, you can embark on the Keepers Riverside Walk, a picturesque trail that meanders alongside the river, offering serene views and opportunities to spot local wildlife.
🕉️ Skanda Vale – the Buddhist Temple
A serene spiritual sanctuary where you can experience peaceful prayers, lush surroundings, and even spot the resident elephants. Skanda Vale is a non-denominational spiritual centre and monastery located in Carmarthenshire, Wales, near the village of Llanpumsaint. Founded in 1973 by Guru Sri Subramanium, the monastery is inhabited and run by the Community of the Many Names of God, which also runs Somaskanda Ashram in Switzerland.
🌊 Llanstefan Estuary
Where the river meets the sea, offering stunning views, a historic castle, and endless inspiration for photographers and dreamers. You can enjoy long walks there and it’s great with dogs!
Note to travelers: make sure you go there when it’s low tide!
🏡 Laugharne – Dylan Thomas’s Haven
Culture Lovers!
Wander through the charming town that inspired Wales’ most famous poet, Dylan Thomas, visit his writing shed overlooking the estuary, and soak up the magic of the Boathouse where he penned his greatest works. His works, like Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night and Fern Hill, explore themes of memory, nature, love, and mortality, often infused with a musical quality that makes them unforgettable. His play Under Milk Wood paints a vivid picture of small-town life in Wales, full of humor, tragedy, and poetic brilliance.

🏖️ Druidston Beach
A wild and untamed beach, backed by towering cliffs, perfect for sunset walks and soaking in Pembrokeshire’s raw beauty. The hotel / Pub there regularly hosts some Live Music so check their program! And watch the Irish dance I enjoyed there last week-end: click here
🐚 Broad Haven Beach
A family-friendly stretch of sand with gentle waves, ideal for rock pooling, kayaking, or simply relaxing with an ice cream. Nice hike – Sully to Penarth
From Barry, drive to the Seashore Grill near Swanbridge Bay and park the car. After the Caravan park on the left, there is a gate to the coast path. Enjoy a nice walk towards Penarth 3,2 miles – 1hour 15 minutes – have a rest there and come back!
