Thailand has opened their Digital Nomad Visa, yeahhhh!!!
I’ve been to Thailand this year for the first time, I stayed in Bangkok for 4 weeks. Spend this amount of time in BKK and you’ll feel like you’ve barely scratched the surface.
Also, depending on the season when you’re there, your discoveries may be slowed down by the unusual level of warmth.
Useful note: March and April are difficult months in Bangkok as it is the warmest season and the temperatures will go way beyond what you can handle as a basic white person (Polish blood doesn’t help!!). In March, there are afternoons when you can’t walk outside without having what we called “warmth attacks”.
But beyond that aspect, which made me realize I would love to go there again but during a little bit milder season, Thaïland is quite exceptional: amazing food, kind people, patient culture with buddhism at the core of every aspect of life, tons of interesting sites to visit at the intersection of natural beauty and spirituality, and so on…

Thailand is also where I’ve been able to meet a lot of people seeking a freedom lifestyle, being involved in businesses that allow you to live wherever you want and work remotely. So if you’re looking for other digital nomads, BKK could be the right place for you!
I could say so much more about Thaïland but for now, let’s enjoy a few pictures and then break this new digital nomad visa down!

The New Digital Nomad Visa
So with this brand new Visa, you can now stay up to 180 days per entry and it is valid for five years.
The numbers of entries are not specified yet.
Know that until now, with a French or an American passport, your time as a tourist in Thailand was limited to 30 days which you could renew once or twice but with an administrative procedure.
So now 180 days feels a lot more comfortable! Especially when you need time to meet collaborators multiple times to create new professional connections.
The conditions:
- Be more than 20 years old
- Valid for 5 years
- Can enter Thailand multiple times
- Can include family members
- Have proof that you hold a certain amount of money to support yourself
Important note: this VISA still is a special kind of Tourist Visa so you’re not allowed to work for companies in Thailand with it or to try to get a Thaï work permit.
Who is this Thaï Digital Nomad Visa for?
- Digital nomads
- Freelancers
- Remote workers
- Influencers
For now on, the government hasn’t specified any minimum of income, employer, social media following requirements, but you have to be able to show legitimate proofs of your employment style (portfolios, reviews, etc).
What if you don’t work online but still want that visa?
There’s still something for you.
If you plan to engage in what they call “Thaï Soft Power” activities, meaning you want to participate in a training or in activities in Thaïland, then you can be eligible.
The activities can be:
- May Thaï courses
- Thaï cooking courses
- Sports training
- Medical treatment
- Seminars
- Music festivals
This section appears to not be fully settled and organized yet but this will be a possibility at some point so follow their updates online!
One of the main conditions asked to obtain this visa is that you have 500 000 bahts in a bank account which equals a little less than 14 000 USD and a little less than 13 000 euros.
